Specializing in the high lyric bel canto repertoire, Mr. McCartney's previous engagements have included Don Ramiro in LA CENERENTOLA with Nevada Opera; Nemorino in L'ELISIR D'AMORE with the Aldeburgh Festival; Arturo in LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR with the Sanibel Music Festival; Paolino in Cimarosa's IL MATRIMONIO SEGRETO and Old Arithmetic Teacher in Ravel's L'ENFANT ET LES SORTILÈGES with Tel Aviv's International Vocal Arts Institute; Bindello in Mozart's L'OCA DEL CAIRO and Monsieur Vogelgesang in DER SCHAUSPIELDIREKTOR at the Teatro São Pedro in São Paolo, Brazil; Sam in SUSANNAH with Norway's Vest Norges Opera; Taco in the world premiere staging of Daron Hagen's and Pulitzer Prize winner Paul Muldoon's VERA OF LAS VEGAS for the Center for Contemporary Opera at Symphony Space in New York City; Edward Milford in IL MATRIMONIO CAMBIALE with New York's Rockland Opera; Western Union Boy in PAUL BUNYAN with New York City Opera Outreach; Sam in STREET SCENE with Carnegie Mellon Opera Theater; and Henrik in more than two hundred fifty performances of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC. Concert highlights have included CARMINA BURANA at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall, at Carnegie Hall, with the New Philharmonic of New Jersey, and with the Pittsburgh Ballet; both the MOZART REQUIEM and Haydn's TERESIENMESSE at Avery Fisher Hall; Mozart's MASS IN C MINOR and C.P.E. Bach's MAGNIFICAT with the National Chorale at Avery Fisher Hall; MESSIAH with Pittsburgh's Orchestra Nova; a series of recitals at the Palazzo Brandolini for the Save Venice Society; and an Italian debut in a duo recital with Luciana Serra at the Teatro Bellini in Catania, Sicily, to commemorate the bicentennial of the birth of Vincenzo Bellini. Gifted with a wide range that soars easily to high F, his discography includes Leonardo Balada's TORQUEMADA on the New World Records label.
