Selected career highlights for German bass Christoph Stegemann have included performances of such roles as Sarastro in DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, Osmin in DIE ENTFÜHRUNG AUS DEM SERAIL, Bartolo in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, both the Commendatore and Masetto in DON GIOVANNI, Sparafucile in RIGOLETTO, Lodovico in OTELLO, Dottore Grenvil in LA TRAVIATA, the High Priest of Baal in NABUCCO, Falstaff in Nicolai's DIE LUSTIGEN WEIBER VON WINDSOR, Colline in LA BOHÈME, Gremin in EUGENE ONEGIN, Surin in Tchaikovsky's THE QUEEN OF SPADES, the Police Commissioner in DER ROSENKAVALIER, Zuniga in CARMEN, the Mayor in JENUFA, First Apprentice in WOZZECK, Le Bailli in WERTHER, both Luther and Crespel in LES CONTES D'HOFFMANN, and Hobson in PETER GRIMES, among others. Mr. Stegemann has performed as a resident artist with the Vereinigte Städtische Bühnen Krefeld & Mönchengladbach, the Stadttheater Pforzheim, the Stadttheater Dortmund, and the Wuppertaler Bühnen. He has appeared as a guest artist with the opera companies of Mannheim, Düsseldorf, Dortmund, Bonn, Erfurt, Mainz, Saarbrücken, Flensburg, Zwickau, Koblenz, Giessen, Osnabrück, and Detmold. Mr. Stegemann made his operatic debut in 1999 with the opera company of Duisburg, Germany, as Jim in MASCHINIST HOPKINS by Max Brand; he was subsequently awarded the honor of being named the best young singer in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, for his performance as Osmin in DIE ENTFÜHRUNG AUS DEM SERAIL. In addition to his operatic appearances, Mr. Stegemann has appeared in numerous concerts throughout the world and in his native Germany. His voice teachers have included Karoly Szilagyi, among others.
